About Podcasting
"Personal On Demand Broadcast"A Podcast, certainly in our respect, is simply a radio show which you can download and play, pause, rewind as and when you wish. The file will be downloaded to your computer as a regular audio file, as if it was simply a song, ready to play from your collection. Subscribe (RSS):If you subscribe to a podcast, you will be asked which 'feedreader' you want to open the podcast in. In many cases this will be 'itunes' or 'windows media player'. When you click your choice, the feedreader will automatically read our 'rss feed' and the latest episode will open in the player and whenever a new episode is available your feedreader will see this and make it available to you, without you having to do a thing. See, its simple, click here to subscribe to our podcasts. You dont have to search for info, it comes to you!You can subscribe to articles aswell as media files such as podcasts and video. Instead of 'googling' a topic or looking for a bookmark you can subscribe to an rss feed. You can then read the headlines from that feed in your web browser or receive and listen to your favourite podcast from itunes. You can use any feed reader you like, it doesnt have to be itunes or your web browser, but the point is it makes it much much easier to get to the info you need, and it only takes a couple of seconds to sort out. RSS actually stands for Rich Site Summary. It is a format for delivering web content that is regularly changing i.e. your favourite website may change its headlines every week or so, the feedreader only shows you the current headlines/content with a link to the relevant page if you choose to look at it. You save timeBy not needing to visit each site individually you can choose which articles or media to view. No email necessaryWhen subscribing to an rss feed you do not have to provide any information about yourself, it stays private as you do not need to join any database list, you simply click a link and the feed will open in your chosen reader There
are many readers available. The ones available to you will show up when
you click the rss icon or 'subscribe' link on a website you choose to
use. You just simply choose the suitable one and a list of available
headlines from that site will appear when you check.
